Step 1

Cut out a template in a square the size, you want your bow tie to be. Place the template on top of the leather and cut. Remember to make room for seam allowance.

Fold the leather and use your sewing machine to sew a seam. You don’t need to sew the entire side – leave a bit of room unsewn to be able to turn the bow tie. After this, fold the seam allowance into the middle and sew both ends.

Step 3

Cut off the corners to make them look a bit pointier, when the right side of the leather faces outwards.

Step 4

Cut a strap of leather that will be tied around the bow tie.

Sketch out a long straight strap for the neckpiece and cut it out.

Step 6

Fold the small leather piece that you made in step 4. Lay the leather on top of it (see picture for reference).

Step 7

Sew the small leather piece around the bow tie by using a needle and thread. If it’s difficult to get the needle through the leather, use a flat nose plier to ease the process.

Step 8

Punch a hole for snaps with your rotary leather punch.

Step 9

Use the snap setter to install the snaps. Please note that the snaps have a top and a bottom.

Step 10

You can install more than one bottom part, which will make it possible to adjust the length of the bow tie.
